In the realm of raw denim, there exists a steadfast adherence to tradition, where the old is often revered, and deviation is sometimes met with skepticism. Yet, at Naked & Famous Denim, we view tradition not as a constraint but as a foundation for innovation. We draw from a tapestry of inspirations to craft fabrics that are both novel and evocative. On one occasion, inspiration struck during a live stream, when a dedicated fan proposed we design denim inspired by fine art. This led to the creation of the Spring Garden Selvedge, a fabric inspired by the art world and, more specifically, by Oscar-Claude Monet’s masterpiece, the Garden in Giverny.
Monet, the French impressionist, was celebrated for his vivid floral landscapes and the dynamic interplay of light and color within his garden motifs—elements we have endeavored to weave into this denim. The indigo exterior of this 12.5oz Japanese Selvedge denim is rich and dark, yet it conceals a tapestry of colors within, dyed in sections to mirror the gradient hues of Monet’s famed palette. This interplay of soft violets, gentle yellows, and lush greens creates a multidimensional aesthetic, akin to strolling through the artist's garden at the peak of spring. A mere roll of the cuff reveals this hidden garden of color, inviting onlookers to glimpse the art concealed within.
The denim is soft and supple, requiring little to no break-in time. The jeans are finished with the classic Naked & Famous Denim details: silver metallic hardware and a luxurious, navy leather patch. The tonal stitching gives the jeans a refined appearance, and as the denim fades, this stitching becomes more pronounced, contrasting beautifully against the lighter denim.
Each pair is meticulously crafted in our Canadian factory, the last of its kind in the nation, symbolizing our unwavering commitment to local craftsmanship.
The Spring Garden Selvedge defies the norms of conventional raw denim, yet it is deeply rooted in the artistic mastery of Oscar-Claude Monet. It is not merely a pair of jeans—it is a canvas, a piece of art, and a testament to tradition reinterpreted through the lens of innovation.

As the days grow longer and the breeze turns warmer, it's the perfect time to infuse your wardrobe with a touch of summer. In this spirit, we're thrilled to unveil a refreshing take on one of our most beloved styles—the Left Hand Twill Selvedge, now in the Sky Blue Edition.
Reimagining our fan-favorite Left Hand Twill Selvedge, this edition maintains the original yarn size and construction, weighing in at a sturdy 13.75oz. Yet, it introduces a serene sky-blue hue, inspired by the vintage palette of the '60s and '70s. This lighter shade promises to deliver vintage-style fades much sooner than traditional dark indigo raw denim, thanks to the yarns absorbing less indigo during the dyeing process.
Crisp and rigid at the outset, this denim is destined to soften beautifully and mold to your form with each wear. The left-hand twill construction doesn't just ensure comfort; it also promotes distinctive vertical fading, guaranteeing that each pair will age uniquely over time.
Pause to appreciate the understated yet captivating details, such as the all-white selvedge ID that runs along one side, complemented by a singular thread on the opposite edge. Crafted from 100% cotton, these jeans epitomize tradition with their contrasting stitching and a light brown leather patch, classic button fly and silver metallic hardware.
Made with meticulous attention to detail in Canada, at our very own factory each pair of the Left Hand Twill Selvedge - Sky Blue Edition jeans stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality.
As you embrace the sun-drenched days ahead, let the Left Hand Twill Selvedge - Sky Blue Edition accompany you.

In the intricate world of denim, traditions often blend with innovations. Our latest creation, the Broken Twill Slub Stretch Selvedge, is the epitome of this fusion. It stands as both a nod to denim's rich history and an embodiment of modern craftsmanship.
Going back in time, the Broken Twill weave was an inventive solution to a pressing problem. Directional twill denim, (left or right-hand twill) faced the issue of 'leg twist'. After a wash, the outseam of the jeans would spiral around the leg, much to the chagrin of wearers. Broken twill, combining both left-hand and right-hand twills, emerged as the savior. Its signature zig-zag weave had no directional bias and not only prevented leg twist but also gave the denim a unique texture.
Today, while modern manufacturing has largely eliminated the leg twist issue in directional twill denim, the charm and appeal of broken twill remains. It's a texture that harks back to a time of innovation, a time when challenges were met head-on with creativity.
Our Broken Twill Slub Stretch Selvedge pays homage to this legacy. Crafted from 12.5oz Japanese Selvedge Denim, this iteration stands as the first in the Slub Stretch Selvedge series to be made in a Broken Twill construction. We also incorporate irregular, bumpy slub yarns that absorb dye in a beautifully uneven manner. The result is a denim full of texture, combining the weave and irregular-sized yarns that create dynamic fading properties that raw denim aficionados will treasure. Each wear promises to bring out a unique evolution, emphasizes vertical highlights and creates a living canvas on your jeans.
Additionally, we incorporated 2% stretch on the weft side, this assures a comfortable fit and quick break-in time. It's designed to stretch horizontally, while the power of high-quality stretch yarns ensures that the denim retains its shape, wear after wear. The exterior warp is made with 100% cotton indigo rope dyed yarns ensuring the best fading potential, striking a balance to cater to both raw denim purists and those who prize comfort.
Detailing extends beyond the fabric. This denim dazzles with its traditional redline selvedge ID, contrasting stitches, a plush dark brown leather patch, an iconic button fly, and gleaming silver hardware. Every pair is meticulously tailored in our esteemed Canadian factory.
Our union with the Broken Twill Slub Stretch Selvedge is more than just crafting another pair of jeans. It's a celebration of the past and a recognition of the present. Wear it with pride, immerse in its history, and relish the comfort and style that comes with every thread.

Crafted on vintage shuttle looms, the denim weaving process is intentionally slow to highlight the organic, uneven texture of the fabric. This careful technique results in a distinctive wavy weave pattern, visible upon closer inspection, that is the hallmark of the Okayama Spirit's iconic textured appearance. The denim is dyed with sulfur on irregularly sized slub yarns to achieve a steely black finish. The unique properties of these yarns mean that thicker sections absorb more dye while thinner sections absorb less, leading to an intriguing visual effect. Over time, the denim fades from black to varying shades of grey, ensuring that each piece ages in a unique way and develops its own character.
The Okayama Spirit Kuro features a robust 16oz weight and is presented in its original loomstate (Unsanforized) form, preserving the denim's authentic texture and heritage-style construction. This means the denim hasn't undergone processes like anti-skewing, singeing, or sanforization (pre-shrinking), maintaining its raw, untouched quality. To simplify sizing and maintain the denim's raw state, the Okayama Spirit Kuro undergoes a tempi treatment. This essential step involves soaking and sun drying the jeans to achieve controlled shrinkage, enabling you to select your precise size from the outset while keeping the fabric's original texture intact.
Beyond its exceptional fabric, the Okayama Spirit Kuro boasts distinctive finishing touches that enhance its aesthetic and functional appeal. The jeans feature blacked-out iron capped buttons, intentionally designed to rust, creating a striking visual contrast as the denim ages. Adding to its unique identity is a black deerskin leather patch, prominently adorned with the "Flower of Carnage" logo. Selvedge detailing is found on the outseam, coin pocket, and fly of the jeans, as well as on the inner placket of the jackets, enhancing the denim's premium feel and heritage appeal. The use of copper rivets reinforces the jeans durability while hidden back pocket rivets pays homage to traditional denim construction The signature maple leaf embroidery, a hallmark of the MIJ series, is thoughtfully placed on the chest pocket of denim jackets and on the back pocket of jeans. This subtle yet distinctive embellishment continues the MIJ series' tradition, marking each piece as a symbol of quality and craftsmanship.
Crafted with an unwavering commitment to excellence, each pair of the Okayama Spirit Kuro stands as a testament to the skilled craftsmanship Japan is renowned for. From the careful dyeing of the yarn to the precision of the final stitches, every step is executed with utmost care, ensuring the jeans not only meets but surpasses the high standards of the Naked & Famous Denim Made in Japan collection.
Here at Naked & Famous, we’re renowned for our wild creations. From heavyweight champions to slub textures and vibrant interiors, not to mention our color-changing denim from the color core series, we’ve pushed the boundaries of denim time and again. Yet, amidst the thrill of innovation, there's a call for the classic—the timeless tried & true styles of old. We've answered with the Tried & True Selvedge, a 12.5oz Japanese Selvedge denim. It's a classic raw denim with those elevated details that make it the perfect daily driver for lovers of classic jeans.
At first glance, the Tried & True Selvedge may appear like another white-backed indigo raw denim. Yet, what makes it special lies in the subtle details. Take a closer look and you'll notice the denim's unique texture, with varying indigo hues that create a 'flamey' look. This effect comes from the use of short slub irregular yarns—not thick enough to give a three-dimensional texture but varying enough for the indigo to absorb at different rates, which will highlight the vertical fading patterns over time.
You'll also spot small white flecks, known as 'neps', throughout the fabric—a nod to old-school charm where such quirks were once seen as flaws but are now intentionally added for character. Inside the fabric, indigo neps are woven into the weft, adding intrigue from within.
The jeans feature the classic Naked & Famous Denim details: custom-made silver metallic hardware and a 5oz vegetable-tanned leather patch that's meant to age and develop a dark brown patina with the jeans. You might consider using leather oils or treatments to further this natural aging process. The denim is finished with a red & white and red & blue selvedge ID line on either edge of the hem—a detail that denim connoisseurs will truly appreciate.
Each pair is meticulously crafted in our own Canadian factory, a symbol of our dedication to local craftsmanship and the last of its kind in the nation.
We revel in taking raw denim to new heights with our innovations, but we also know the importance of looking back to the classics. The Tried & True Selvedge isn't just a nod to the timeless indigo denim that started it all; it's a celebration of its enduring legacy, crafted for the future. It’s the kind of denim that never goes out of style, proving that some things are just Tried & True.

Debuting in Fall 2010, the Frankenstein Denim was a revelation in raw denim—a hybrid creation akin to its namesake, a mix-mash of construction techniques. With an alternating pattern of left hand twill and right hand twill, woven from big slub irregular yarns, it boasted a texture-rich, unforgettable character. Despite its iterations ranging from classic indigo and black to taupe and the "Toxic Avenger" edition of 2020, updates to this series have been sparse, leaving fans clamoring for more. For the Spring/Summer 2024 collection, we're thrilled to unveil the 14oz Undyed Frankenstein Denim. Crafted from natural ecru cotton, it's a nod to Frankenstein's undead origins—or should we say, 'un dyed' origins? Yes, we appreciate a good (or bad) pun.
This denim maintains its classic weave, a dance of left and right hand twills with the signature big slub yarn. In its undyed state, the fabric reveals tiny brown cotton seeds, adding a touch of the organic to the denim's texture. Ecru denim has found favor with raw denim enthusiasts seeking an alternative to indigo. Pair it with your traditional raw denim pieces for a fresh, new aesthetic. And fear not the upkeep; ecru denim cleans with ease, most stains washing out in a regular cycle. Or let them age, and a unique patina will emerge, telling the story of your adventures. Each pair is adorned with Naked & Famous Denim's classic features: custom silver metallic hardware and an upside-down brown leather patch—our whimsical twist for the Frankenstein series. As always, each pair is meticulously assembled in our Canadian factory, the enduring symbol of our dedication to craftsmanship.
Frankenstein Denim isn't for the faint of heart; it's for those who covet the extraordinary, a testament to the spirit of innovation that has driven us for years. It's for the denim connoisseur who delights in the unique, in the smashing together of details to see what emerges. This denim, like its passionate fans, stands as a tribute to that unwavering commitment to pushing the envelope.
Our Chinese New Year Selvedge for 2024 retains the refreshed fabric introduced in 2023. This denim boasts a rich, slubby texture, delivering striking high-contrast fading with an emphasis on vertical streaking. Unlike previous editions, this fabric is less rigid, ensuring a quicker break-in period and enhanced comfort for the wearer.
In homage to the Chinese New Year, the jeans feature several design elements: a metallic gold foil and red selvedge ID, and red pocket bags – reminiscent of the traditional red envelopes symbolizing prosperity. The centerpiece is the intricately designed Year Of The Dragon vegetable-tanned leather patch, accented with metallic red foil. Over time, this patch will beautifully patina, developing deeper brown tones, while the metallic foil subtly fades.
Proudly constructed in our Canadian factory, these jeans are also adorned with contrast stitching and silver metallic buttons and rivets, epitomizing our commitment to exquisite craftsmanship.
Whether celebrating the Year of the Dragon or simply admiring the art of fading denim, these jeans are a quintessential addition for any raw denim aficionado.
It's a daunting task to find jeans that promise comfort and durability without sacrificing one for the other. Too often, stretchy jeans fall short, feeling flimsy and lacking the authentic heft and feel of real denim. But the All Black Comfort Stretch defies these norms and are crafted from a heavier weight 14oz Japanese power stretch denim, promising an incredible stretch while retaining the substantial feel of classic denim.
From the moment you slip into a pair, they embrace you in instant comfort. These aren't your typical rigid, raw denim jeans that take weeks to break in. Instead, this denim is designed to flex and move with you, adapting seamlessly to your lifestyle from day one. The true magic, though, lies in the denim's uncanny ability to retain its shape, wear after wear.
This secret is found within the interior weft of the denim, where the highest performance stretch fibers – “power stretch fibers” - are woven in. These fibers have an extraordinary ability to snap back into shape, wear after wear. This unique construction technique allows for excellent horizontal movement, ensuring you never feel restricted in your jeans. Say goodbye to the days of stiff, uncomfortable denim.
In terms of color, the All Black Comfort Stretch is dyed black on both the exterior warp and interior weft sides, creating a truly stealthy look. This deep, rich black is not just incredibly stylish, but remarkably versatile too. Whether paired with a sophisticated blazer or a casual tee and sneakers, these jeans effortlessly transition from a day at the office to a night out on the town.
Accentuating the elegant simplicity of the All Black Comfort Stretch jeans are details like a zip fly, tonal stitching, black non reflective hardware and a black suede leather patch.
At Naked & Famous Denim, we pride ourselves on our fearless approach to innovation and the creation of truly unique fabrics. From the inception of our brand, we've passionately pursued the creation of denim that pushes boundaries and challenges conventions. Our latest offering, the Gradient Denim, harkens back to our long-standing tradition of presenting the world with specialty denim options.
The Gradient Denim is a lightweight and comfortable10oz Japanese Denim, and it stands out with a striking gradient tone. The jeans slowly change color from the waistband to the hem, from classic indigo to a subtle dark green. . This graceful color shift gives the jeans a unique personality, making them a true statement piece.
The magic of this gradient, however, is not in dyeing or bleaching the fabric. Instead, it’s done though ingenuity of the weaving process. The Gradient denim is woven using a jacquard loom, these looms are typically employed to weave patterns into the fabric, and for this denim instead of a traditional pattern the loom gradually flips the warp and weft yarns. You’ll notice where the front face of the fabric is indigo you’ll have a green weft, and vice verca. This innovative approach results in a fabric that is not only unique but also full of depth and character.
By combining indigo rope dyed warp yarns and deep green weft, we've created jeans that will fade like no other. As these jeans are worn and washed over time, they continue to evolve, revealing more gradient color changes. This transformation adds an exciting dimension to the denim, making each pair a living, changing canvas that tells the story of its wearer.
Other details you’ll find include tonal stitching, black metallic hardware, a dark brown leather patch, and a button fly. In the world of denim, where indigo reigns supreme, the Gradient Denim is a refreshing deviation from the norm.

The Pagoda Dyed Selvedge is a heavyweight 15oz Japanese Selvedge Denim, woven meticulously on vintage shuttle looms in Japan. The traditional weaving process lends the denim an authentic, rigid, and slubby texture, characteristic of artisanal selvedge denim. This unique texture holds immense potential for developing fascinating fading patterns over time, creating a personal testament to your denim journey.
What sets the Pagoda Dyed Selvedge apart, however, is its unique color. The denim's interior weft is dyed using a traditional Japanese Pagoda dye - a natural dye derived from the flower buds of the Pagoda tree. This dye imbues the denim with a warm golden hue, creating a visually appealing contrast against the classic indigo of the warp. The interplay of the cool indigo and the warm golden undertones results in a harmonious blend that is pleasing to the eye.. As the indigo fades over time, the golden undertones of the weft will gradually come to the forefront, lending the denim a unique patina that only gets better with age.
Additional details further enhance the artisanal appeal of the Pagoda Dyed Selvedge. The jeans feature a button fly, a vegan friendly paper based patch, and silver metallic hardware - a combination that marries tradition and modernity with effortless ease. As with all our creations, each pair of Pagoda Dyed Selvedge jeans is cut, sewn, and assembled with meticulous attention to detail in our factory, the last remaining jeans factory in Canada.
At Naked & Famous Denim, we are passionate about bringing together the old and the new, the traditional and the contemporary. The Pagoda Dyed Selvedge embodies this vision, highlighting the beautiful union between indigo and natural dyes while offering an innovative spin on the classic denim aesthetic. It's more than a pair of jeans - it's a celebration of craftsmanship, heritage, and the endless possibilities of color and texture in fashion.
Update: Please note that the photographs currently displayed feature a pink line selvedge ID, which was part of our initial production sample. However, the final product that will be shipped has been updated to a yellow line selvedge ID.

Crafted from premium 12.5oz Japanese Selvedge Denim, the richness of this piece lies in its hues. The deep indigo rope-dyed exterior warp is complemented by a black interior weft, imparting the denim its captivating midnight hue. When observed closely, the black weft subtly emerges through the twill lines. With time, as the indigo gracefully fades, it's this black undertone that will magnify the blue's brilliance, creating an electrifying visual appeal.
But it's not just the color that makes this collaboration special. Delve deeper, and you'll strike the raw defiance Raised by Wolves is famed for. Brazenly woven into the selvedge ID is their unapologetic "Fuck Off." slogan. Our motto for it? “Flip Up The Cuff To Flip Em’ Off”. It's a fierce statement of rebellion, symbolizing the essence of Raised by Wolves.
Going into the finer details, the denim features matte black mic spec non-reflective hardware, lending it a modern and sleek look. Adorning the back, a vegetable-tanned leather patch comes to life with custom artwork. Our signature Tragic Blond is depicted in the company of a mesmerizing pack of crystal wolves. The crystal, symbolic of the 15-year landmark, adds an intricate and shimmering touch to this commemorative masterpiece. And the talent behind the artwork? The multi-faceted Montreal-based comic book artist and professional wrestler, Andy Belanger.
Our partnership with Raised by Wolves is more than a simple collaboration; it's a blend of two worlds, two visions, and two legacies. Together, we've crafted not just a denim but a narrative of shared journeys and mutual admiration. To those who've cherished both our stories, this is our tribute. Wear it with pride, revel in its craftsmanship, and remember: sometimes, flipping the cuff speaks louder than words.

This combo not only creates a pleasingly bumpy texture but also a hauntingly beautiful color play as the purple weft teasingly peeks through the twill lines of the front face of the fabric. The Purple selvedge ID adds a final note of supernatural elegance.

This unique piece is a 13oz Japanese Selvedge Denim, masterfully woven on vintage shuttle looms in Okayama, Japan. But, what truly sets it apart is its warm beige tone. Beige - a color that whispers instead of shouting, making it the perfect canvas for you to play around with other elements in your attire.
Made using irregular sized slub yarns, the denim features a characteristic three-dimensional texture, filled with a charming array of bumps and knots. This denim is rigid and a bit tough to tame, but don't let that deter you. Like any good pair of jeans, it only gets better with time, becoming a second skin, tailored by the adventures of your daily life.
Accentuated with tonal stitching, antique copper hardware, a button fly, and a raging kong brown leather patch, this denim holds an elegant charm. Its detail-rich design seamlessly integrates sophistication with a touch of rusticity, making it a statement piece that's bound to turn heads.

We've always believed in pushing the boundaries of what's possible in denim, and the Sumi Ink Coated Selvedge is a prime example of this ethos. This denim is an innovative fusion of traditional Japanese Sumi ink and premium 13oz Japanese Selvedge Denim, promising a uniquely captivating fade journey. The richness of Japanese tradition meets the time-tested allure of raw denim in this striking masterpiece.
At first glance, the Sumi Ink Coated Selvedge showcases a striking all-black aesthetic. This is no ordinary black denim, though. The darkness you see comes from a generous coating of traditional Japanese Sumi ink. Renowned for its deep black hue and versatility, Sumi ink has long been used in Japanese calligraphy and brush painting, known as Sumi-e. By applying this age-old medium to denim, we've created a tactile, visual, and experiential feast for denim lovers.
What sets this denim apart is its unique fade journey. As you wear these jeans, the Sumi ink slowly fades away, revealing the underlying classic indigo rope dyed denim. But that's not the end of the transformation. The indigo itself will fade over time, giving rise to a mesmerizing interplay of indigo and black hues. This creates an evolving palette on your jeans that tells a rich, personal story of wear and fade.
Despite its artistic exterior, the Sumi Ink Coated Selvedge remains a true denim at heart. The 13oz weight provides a perfect balance of durability and comfort. While slightly rigid at first, the jeans break in quickly, conforming to your body and movement. Adding to its appeal are the rugged yet refined details: a button fly, tonal stitching, a black leather patch, and mil-spec non-reflective black hardware. These subtleties further elevate the sophisticated style of these jeans.
Every pair of Sumi Ink Coated Selvedge is meticulously cut, sewn, and built in our very own factory, the last standing jeans factory in Canada. Our direct involvement in the entire process ensures unrivaled quality control and attention to detail. When you invest in a pair of these jeans, you're not just getting a unique piece of denim—you're also supporting a proud legacy of craftsmanship.
The Sumi Ink Coated Selvedge is indeed a rare find. It's an innovative canvas that combines art, tradition, and denim in a way that will delight both seasoned denim enthusiasts and those just beginning their raw denim journey. This isn't just a pair of jeans—it's a unique, evolving piece of wearable art that will surely bring a fun new dimension to your raw denim experience.

The Elephant 12 – Broken Twill Big Slub Selvedge is a force to reckon with, crafted from a super-dense 20oz Japanese Selvedge denim. This weight is nearly double the traditional denim used in the early workwear days, which was usually around 10oz. Imagine the kind of durability that brings. We're talking about a pair of jeans that you'll wear for years, growing older and better with you, creating a unique fade pattern that tells your personal story.
But it's not just the weight that sets the Elephant 12 apart. Its fabrication boasts a broken twill construction, a detail that may seem minor but is of great significance. Broken twill is a blend of left and right-hand twill, designed specifically to counteract leg twist, since it doesn't favour a single twill direction. It's a rare feature in today's denim world and is a testament to the thought and craftsmanship that has gone into making this standout piece.
The Elephant 12 uses slubby, irregularly shaped yarns, creating a unique and highly sought-after texture, adding another layer of rarity to this denim. Finishing touches include contrast stitching, a vegetable-tanned leather patch, button fly, and silver metallic hardware, making the jeans a sartorial statement.
Each pair is cut, sewn, and assembled in Canada's last standing denim factory. A process that pays homage to the country's long-standing garment production tradition and the hard work of the local artisans. It's a detail that adds another layer of depth to the Elephant 12 story, making them not just a pair of jeans but a piece of denim history.
Over time, as you break in this fabric the rigid heavyweight denim forms and molds according to your body's movements. But this effort is rewarding as the heavier denim tends to exaggerate fading patterns, making your jeans look distinctively yours.
To wear the Elephant 12 – Broken Twill Big Slub Selvedge is to carry a piece of history, a testament to the evolution of denim, and an emblem of durability. It's more than just a garment; it's a conversation starter, a statement piece, and a tribute to time-honored craftsmanship.

The area receives an impressive 3,700 hours of sunlight each year, which is even more than what the Caribbean gets.
Additionally, the cool nights allow the rapidly-growing cotton plants to rest. The combination of soil and climate in this location is ideal for producing high-quality cotton. It is in this unique setting that we can achieve both a stable, long fiber length and a fiber strength that exceeds that of the original cotton from the Caribbean.
The brilliance of this denim lies in its dual characteristics. On one hand, it's rugged and durable, like any top-quality denim should be. On the other hand, the Sea Island Cotton imparts a smooth, silky texture to the denim, giving it an unprecedented level of comfort. It's a contrast that adds a layer of complexity to the denim, making it a unique pleasure to wear all day.
Every pair of American Sea Island Cotton Selvedge jeans captures our commitment to fine craftsmanship. They feature a hidden selvedge coin pocket, a copper brown leather patch, and silver metallic hardware, and a vintage style pink line selvedge id.
Each pair is meticulously cut, sewn, and assembled in our factory—the last standing jeans factory in Canada—owned and operated by us at Naked & Famous Denim. This level of involvement allows us to maintain a strict quality control process, ensuring that every pair of jeans that leaves our factory meets our high standards.
The American Sea Island Cotton Selvedge is not just a pair of jeans—it brings together luxury and durability. With it’s unique blend of silky comfort and robust strength, these jeans introduce a new level of sophistication to your denim collection while maintaining the functionality and longevity that denim is renowned for.
The Herringbone Denim, is a 11.2oz Japanese denim, showcases a distinctive herringbone pattern, adding a dynamic element to your jeans. Dyed using traditional rope dyeing techniques, the denim takes on a rich, deep indigo color that gracefully fades over time, further amplifying the herringbone pattern and the personalized story of your jeans.
So, what is Herringbone (or Herringbone Twill), and why does it matter? The herringbone pattern originates from a weaving technique that yields a characteristic V-shape, reminiscent of a herring fish's skeleton. It has been extensively used in crafting military uniforms due to its durability and resilience to wear and tear. Despite its hard-wearing quality, the fabric is surprisingly soft, offering daily comfort while embracing a rugged aesthetic.
Every pair of our Herringbone Denim is meticulously cut, sewn, and assembled in our very own factory, the last remaining jeans factory in Canada, a testament to our dedication to fine craftsmanship. The design features a button fly, tonal thread, a dark brown leather patch, and sleek silver metallic hardware, which all contribute to the overall aesthetics of these jeans.
Embracing the Herringbone Denim signifies venturing beyond traditional denim weaves. It's more than just a garment; it's an immersive raw denim journey, revealing its rich history with every fade, and intertwining with your narrative with every wear. Experience this unique denim fusion with our Herringbone Denim, where historical craftsmanship meets modern innovation in the most stylish way.

At Naked & Famous Denim, innovation is not just a concept, it's a guiding principle. Our drive to redefine the boundaries of denim has led us to create some of the most interesting and innovative denim fabrics every created. Today, we are excited to introduce you to our newest creation: the Kikko Denim.
Despite what the name implies, Kikko Denim technically isn't denim in the traditional sense. Instead of being made on a standard denim loom, Kikko Denim is brought to life on a specialized jacquard loom, known for its ability to weave intricate and complex designs. This technique has enabled us to incorporate the traditional Japanese 'Kikko' pattern - inspired by the hexagonal shape of a tortoise shell, a symbol of good luck - into the fabric itself.
The Kikko Denim is rope dyed with indigo and comes in at 12.5oz. With time and wear, the indigo dye naturally fades, making the raised Kikko pattern more pronounced and showcasing a beautiful contrast with the base fabric. To enhance this, we've rinse-washed the garment, which brings out various shades of indigo and highlights the Kikko pattern.
Every piece of Kikko Denim is cut, sewn, and built right here in Canada, featuring tonal stitching, a navy patch, and black mil spec non-reflective buttons and rivets.
Kikko Denim is more than just a garment - it's a fusion of traditional Japanese aesthetics and the boundary-pushing spirit of Naked & Famous Denim. This unique textile tells a story that evolves with each wear, unfolding a unique narrative of your style and experiences. Experience this wearable piece of art that not only pays homage to the timeless appeal of denim but also transcends its traditional boundaries.
As the sun beats down and the days get warmer, many denim enthusiasts find themselves in search of a cooler alternative to their heavier jeans. Enter the New Frontier Selvedge: a lightweight denim with vintage charm and modern convenience, designed to keep you comfortable without sacrificing style.
The New Frontier Selvedge is a must-have for any fan of vintage denim, featuring an 8.75oz Japanese selvedge denim that's lightweight and soft. Drawing inspiration from early workwear denim, which were designed to be worn in harsh working conditions under the sun. This means that not only are these jeans durable, but they're also designed to keep you cool in the warmer months.
Woven on vintage shuttle looms in Okayama, Japan, the New Frontier Selvedge's standout detail is its light indigo tone, which boasts a vintage appeal and makes it a great color for summer. The lighter shade also makes fading these jeans down to a light vintage blue look much easier, as there are fewer layers of indigo build-up on the yarn.
One of the standout features of the New Frontier Selvedge is its adherence to tradition. Unlike modern denim, this fabric has not been sanforized preserving it’s natural texture and hairiness. But it also means it will shrink up to 10% when washed. But to make this easier, the jeans have been rinse washed to pre-shrink them, so you can choose your size without worrying about major shrinkage. That said, minimal shrinkage can still be expected when laundering. The side seams will twist with wash and wear, a characteristic feature of unsanforized denim and a sign of this denim’s old-world production method.
The jeans are finished with contrast stitching, silver metallic buttons and rivets, and a vegan leather patch. The vegan leather patch is made from a heavy-duty cardboard and is a throwback detail found on vintage jeans. It is designed to age beautifully over time, becoming a unique and well-worn part of your jeans.
Depending on the production lot, you may find an all-white selvedge ID or one with a classic red line. Due to slight variations in the dye lots, production lots were separated using the selvedge ID to color-code the fabric. Using the selvedge ID to color-code the fabric was the original use for this detail.
Cut, sewn, and built in Canada, the New Frontier Selvedge offers the perfect combination of vintage-inspired style, modern convenience, and lightweight comfort. Whether you're a fan of vintage denim or simply looking to add some variety to your collection, the New Frontier Selvedge is a great choice. It's a reproduction of a classic style that will never go out of fashion, and it's sure to become a staple in your wardrobe.

The denim is woven on vintage shuttle looms in Okayama, Japan, and has a classic raw, rigid texture. It weighs in at 14oz per square yard, making it tough enough for all-year wear. The natural cotton color is great for keeping you cool during the hot summer months, but it's also warm enough to work with your fall/winter wardrobe. In other words, the All Natural Organic Cotton Selvedge is the fabric for all seasons!
To play up the natural theme of the denim, we've included a green line selvedge ID and tonal stitching throughout. The patch is upcycled and made from recycled leather material that is pressed together (similar to particle board). You'll also find custom-made silver metallic buttons inscribed with "Naked & Famous" and "Je T'adore Toute Nue" on the rivets. These jeans are designed, cut, and sewn in Canada.
The All Natural Organic Cotton Selvedge offers a unique opportunity to reinvent your raw denim wardrobe. Their distinct shade and organic cotton composition can breathe new life into your existing collection, giving you fresh options for mixing and matching. For example, you can pair the ecru jeans with your favorite raw denim jacket to create a striking contrast or layer them with other denim pieces in various shades for a chic, monochromatic look. The possibilities are endless!
Don't worry about stains with these jeans - most will simply wash out, or you can wear them hard like you would a typical pair of raw jeans and let the dirt and grime form a patina. Either way, you can enjoy these jeans and embrace their natural beauty.
The Blue Jay Selvedge is an 8.25oz indigo rope dyed denim crafted in Okayama, Japan, this fabric is woven on vintage shuttle looms, which gives it an authentic appearance true to the original workwear style. Although considered lightweight by today's standards, this denim was once regarded as the heavy-duty choice of its time. The tight weave ensures that the threads are densely packed together, making the fabric more robust, long-lasting, and less prone to snagging.
Manufactured in our very own factories in Quebec, Canada, the Blue Jay Selvedge jeans feature several design elements that set them apart. These include vintage-style white stitching, a blue and white selvedge ID, a dark brown suede patch, and silver metallic buttons and rivets. Combined, these features create a stylish and distinctive look reminiscent of vintage workwear denim.
The Blue Jay Selvedge offers the perfect blend of vintage-inspired style, with both modern and vintage fit options available. Choose from our Super Guy, Weird Guy, and Easy Guy fits, or opt for the Strong Guy – a wide, straight-leg option or classic Chore Coat, perfect for vintage style enthusiasts.
The Blue Jay Selvedge jeans expertly combine vintage-inspired style with modern comfort, making them an excellent addition to your wardrobe – especially for summer wear. The lightweight fabric ensures breathability and ease of movement, while the timeless design adds a touch of classic charm.
