Focus: Naked & Famous Denim Ninja Shinobi Selvedge
Naked & Famous Denim delivers a home-run with the secret addition to the FW16 lineup with a deadstock 16.5oz unsanforized selvedge denim to create the Ninja Shinobi Selvedge. The jeans are incredibly gorgeous and they feature details upon details upon details.
The Shinobi Selvedge is inspired by all the legends and stories of Japanese ninjas (AKA Shinobi). Shinobi were a trained mercenaries from feudal Japan known for covertly tackling their missions. They used to wear either purple or indigo to disguise themselves at night because the hue of black doesn't appear often in nature, so wearing black produces the opposite effect by making the wearer stand out. The color purple is the theme of Ninja Shinobi Selvedge and you'll find the motif reoccurring throughout the jeans.
The Shinobi Selvedge comes with a special purple Kimono fabric lining the inside yoke and pocket bags. They also contain Naked & Famous Denim's custom maple leaf hidden rivets - a detail not too often found in Naked & Famous Denim jeans. The hidden rivets used were famously used in the legendary Tokushima Hand-Dyed Natural Indigo Selvedge. A purple selvedge ID is a rare color to find in the world of raw denim and it's a nice cherry on top to all the purple motifs and details. Lastly, the artwork was expertly done by Steve Mack (AKA Kandoken) with the Naked & Famous Denim woman as a shinobi.
The Ninja Shinobi Denim is available exclusively in the Weird Guy fit for $165.
