Naked & Famous Denim x The Matrix Capsule Collection
As fans of film and nostalgia we are proud to present our latest capsule collection based 1999 cyberpunk film, The Matrix. For this collection we’ve custom milled two unique selvedge denim fabrics.
The first is the “Falling Code Selvedge” a 13.5oz blacked out Japanese Selvedge Denim. This denim is woven using sulfur dyed black yarns on both the exterior warp and interior weft to create a stealthy all black appearance, a nod to the all-black outfits as worn in the film. You’ll also find tonal black stitching as well as blackened mil spec non reflective buttons and rivets. The black leather patch features the Matrix falling code embossed with green foil. You’ll also find the Matrix falling code on the Selvedge ID woven in using green metallic yarn. This fabric is offered in the Super Guy, Weird Guy and Easy Guy fits.
The second fabric dubbed “The Free Will Selvedge” is a 13.5oz indigo Japanese Selvedge denim with a black faux leather coating. This leather coating is designed to crack and fade away revealing the indigo denim layer underneath. This is meant to pay homage to the leather clad outfits featured in the film as well as representing the discovery of the “real world”. The out seams feature Blue and Red Selvedge ID’s, representing the choice of blue and red pills offered to Neo by Morpheus, “You take the blue pill, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland. And I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.”. The selvedge IDs are mostly hidden under the leather coating and will reveal themselves overtime with wear. The jeans feature blackened mil spec non reflective buttons and rivets and a green foil embossed Matrix falling code black leather patch. The fabric is offered in the Super Guy, Weird Guy and Easy Guy fits as well as a Denim Jacket.
