The Art Of Weaving: Exploring The Kikko Denim

At Naked & Famous Denim, innovation is not just a concept, it's a guiding principle. Our drive to redefine the boundaries of denim has led us to create some of the most interesting and innovative denim fabrics every created.  Today, we are excited to introduce you to our newest creation: the Kikko Denim.

Despite what the name implies, Kikko Denim technically isn't denim in the traditional sense. Instead of being made on a standard denim loom, Kikko Denim is brought to life on a specialized jacquard loom, known for its ability to weave intricate and complex designs. This technique has enabled us to incorporate the traditional Japanese 'Kikko' pattern - inspired by the hexagonal shape of a tortoise shell, a symbol of good luck - into the fabric itself.

The Kikko Denim is rope dyed with indigo and comes in at 12.5oz. With time and wear, the indigo dye naturally fades, making the raised Kikko pattern more pronounced and showcasing a beautiful contrast with the base fabric. To enhance this, we've rinse-washed the garment, which brings out various shades of indigo and highlights the Kikko pattern.

Every piece of Kikko Denim is cut, sewn, and built right here in Canada, featuring tonal stitching, a navy patch, and black mil spec non-reflective buttons and rivets.

Kikko Denim is more than just a garment - it's a fusion of traditional Japanese aesthetics and the boundary-pushing spirit of Naked & Famous Denim. This unique textile tells a story that evolves with each wear, unfolding a unique narrative of your style and experiences. Experience this wearable piece of art that not only pays homage to the timeless appeal of denim but also transcends its traditional boundaries.
